The dictionary definition of “reflex” is;
n. an image produced by reflection. REFLEXOLOGY is based
on the principle discovered in ancient times that every organ, gland
and body part, even skin, has its reflection on an area of one’s
hands,
feet, and ears called a “reflex area.”
"Reflexology enables the body's
regenerative powers to fight disease and imbalance." -Anthony J. Porter, England
The
definition of reflexology
--From the International Institute of Reflexology Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that
there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to
all of the glands organs and parts of the body. Reflexology is
a unique method of using the thumb and fingers on these reflex
areas.
Reflexology can be defined as the act of
applying pressure on specific reflex areas in the feet using thumb,
finger and hand techniques. This causes a repercussion in the
body: because there is an exact representation of the human body
found in the foot.
- Taken from J. Manzaanares, MD
“In
reflexology the use of any tools, other than our hands, lessens the
element of human touch and supports the impersonal nature of
technology which is already rampant in our society. As human beings
we must learn to balance the material wonder of technology with the
spiritual demands of our nature if we are to be holistic and
healthy. Human touch is the compensating factor.”
- Christine Issel author of Reflexology , Art, Science and History
“The more high
tech, the more high touch is needed.”
- John Naisbitt author of Megatrends
Reflexology
includes, but is not limited to:
1. relieve stress and tension;
2. improve blood supply and promote the unblocking of
nerve
impulses;
3. help nature to normalize
